Furby of the Forest

It was a blast modding this 1998 Tiger Electronics Furby, so fun that I can promise I’m going to do another one. But how did this Magnificent, this Fantastical Marvellous Forest Diety come to be?

I started this project with a 1998 Tiger Electronics Furby, in all-white, and a bottle of RIT Fabric Dye in Kelly Green. The Furby was a NON-Working Furby i purchased off eBay, with no hope of repairing its internal components, I hoped to re purpose it for a brighter future. I brushed out the furbys hair as much as I could, prepared a hot dye bath, and proceeded to hot dye-bath-torture this innocent toy.

When the dye was fully processed I began working on the 3D Print Files for the Antlers and Mushrooms. These were printed on my FlashForge Adventurer 3, a really great and simple to learn method of 3D printing from home, work, or studio!

After removing the mushrooms from the platform and clipping off the supports they still needed some sanding and shaping with my dremel tool before i was happy enough with the shapes and contours, the Forest Furby demanded perfection. Painting over the plastic was easy and fun and pretty relaxing (I kind of see why my boyfriend likes sitting and painting miniatures now…)

Finally, it was time to assemble it al together. I decided to replace the lashes as well for a more dramatic overall look on the eyes. Behold, the Forest Spirit.
